TAIWANESE singer Zhang Hui Mei, or better known as A-Mei, joined hands with
over 1000 youths from various local junior colleges and secondary schools to
make a stand against global hunger in World Vision's 30-hour famine camp.
In her new role as World Vision Singapore's 30-Hour Famine Ambassador, she
and the participating youths make a stand for millions of children around the
world who go hungry everyday as a result of the global economic and food
crisis.
At the opening ceremony held at Anglo-Chinese School, A-Mei launched the
beginning of the famine camp together with Member of Parliament for Jalan
Besar GRC, Miss Denise Phua and Executive Director of World Vision Singapore,
Mr James Quek.
She was then ushered to the enactment scene of an earthquake disaster where
she played the role of an injured woman who has to find her family members in
the chaos and rebuild their home.
A-Mei also shared about her role as ambassador and her recent trip to Mewat,
India.
Together with her is 11-year-old Cambodian boy Theara, who recounted his
HIV/AIDS journey which is plagued with discrimination and stigmatisation.
