Cashman regrets not being able to sit down with A-Rod

Brian Cashman's one regret about Alex Rodriguez's decision to opt out of his
contract is that the superstar never gave the Yankees a chance to persuade
him not to.

現金人對於火星人a-rod沒有給洋基一個說服他留下的機會就走感到遺憾。


Cashman, speaking publicly for the first time since Scott Boras informed the
world Sunday night that A-Rod would become a free agent, said the Yankees had
"sincere interest" in bringing the two-time MVP back to the Bronx, but the
team was never given a fair shot to do so.

洋基非常想把二度獲選mvp的a-rod帶回紐約泡茶，可惜他們沒有機會去做這件事了。

By opting out, Rodriguez cost the Yankees the $30million subsidy that the
Texas Rangers were set to pay over the final three years of A-Rod's contract.
While the Yankees certainly have enough cash to sign whoever they want, the
loss of that money made it a financially unsound decision to sign Rodriguez,
at least in the team's opinion.

因為a-rod恢復自由之身，洋基失去了游騎兵未來三年要支付的一筆三千萬元的資金。
雖說洋基是金錢如糞土，想簽誰就簽誰。但這筆錢仍然造成洋基財務上一點小困難。
至少官方是這麼說得。

"There was about $30 million in the middle of this thing, and that's a lot of
money to any franchise - even the New York Yankees," Cashman said. "That's
why we tried to take the time and effort to engage Alex through Scott, to
have that sit-down that was necessary.

"這牽扯到三千萬美元呢！就算對紐約洋基來說，這還是一比大數目。
所以我們一直努力希望可以透過波拉絲和a-rod坐下來喝個茶聊個天。"現金人說


"In any negotiation, step one is to sit down and talk, and we were not in a
position for whatever reason to ever do that. I'll always regret that we
didn't get that opportunity to do so."

While the rest of the world was learning of Rodriguez's decision to opt-out
of his contract during Sunday night's Game4 of the World Series, Cashman was
sleeping.

當全世界都在討論著a-rod的opt的時候，現金人在睡覺。


"I wasn't really too keen on watching the Boston Red Sox win a world
championship, so I didn't watch the game," Cashman said. "I put my son,
Teddy, down to sleep, read him a story and fell asleep reading him the story."

"要我看紅襪角逐世界大賽冠軍，我實在是硬不起來。"
"所以我念床邊故事給我的兒子聽並哄他睡覺。"


His wife, Mary, woke him around 10:30, at which time he received both a
voicemail and text message from Boras informing him of the decision.

後來他太太在早上叫醒他並告知他波拉絲有重要的訊息要給他知道
（所以是後來被吵醒了才看到opt的訊息）

"We really would have appreciated having a chance to go forward with him, but
that can't happen," Cashman said. "It just didn't work out."

"如果有機會可以讓我們努力去談妥這件事情，我會很感激，只是一切都太遲了。"

Cashman是個好爸爸！而且照這樣看來，似乎是a-rod都沒有跟洋基討論過就做出了決定。
不管是a-rod自己的意願還是經紀人請他這麼做的，這樣都不太厚道吧......

版面上也為了這個經紀人吵的雞毛鴨血的，其實他也只是在做他自己的工作罷了。
有誰不希望自己的球員能有更好的發展空間可以賺更多的錢？
真的要說他哪裡有問題的話就是，他真的沒有坐下來好好跟洋基泡個茶。
然後又提早宣佈這個消息，搶走別人風采。=>這是重點
當一個經紀人除了要顧到荷包以外，球員的聲望也很重要，雖然這次有道歉了，不過傷害
還是造成了。

心平氣和吧！不管怎麼說這是a-rod版...大家就支持他就好啦！
