The speculation over Fiorentina’s next Coach could be in vain, as the club has
hinted it will stick with caretaker Sergio Buso.
“We didn’t want to change management,” explained director general Fabrizio
Lucchesi after Emiliano Mondonico’s resignation, “but the situation was
foisted upon us. We were lucky to have Buso on staff and we can say finding
another tactician is no longer an emergency.”
Buso was the goalkeeping trainer at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, but he has
taken the side to two convincing victories against Reggina and Lecce. These
results have put the newly promoted outfit in fifth place, level on points with
the mighty Inter
“Today’s game was won on a tactical level,” continued Lucchesi after the 4-0
demolition of Lecce. “We knew the side needed time to gel and never put
pressure on Mondonico either.”
The list of potential candidates includes the likes of Dino Zoff, Alberto
Malesani, Roberto Donadoni and Fatih Terim, but Buso seems to have fought off
the pretenders for the moment.
“This was our best game of the season so far, although to be fair it wasn’t
difficult to do better than some of our early performances. We knew Buso would
hold the fort well for us.”
54-year-old Buso made his Serie A debut with Bologna in June 1999, having acted
as youth team Coach and then assistant manager to Renzo Ulivieri for the
previous four years.
This experience lasted just seven games before Francesco Guidolin replaced him.
Also sacked by Serie C1 outfit Taranto, he concentrated on working as a
goalkeeping trainer and assistant at Venezia, Napoli and Reggina.
Notorious for his humility and dour features, Buso was typically non-plussed by
today’s triumph.
“Without players who are both professional and generous in their efforts,” he
commented, “a Coach is going nowhere. 90 per cent of the credit for this
victory goes to the lads and I’ll take the other 10 per cent for picking the
line-up.”
Meanwhile, Viola medical staff have confirmed that Fabrizio Miccoli was
stretchered off with a bruised thigh and that the injury is not serious.

FIO的新教練可能不會來了，俱樂部想讓BUSO繼任。
『我們不想換教練，』MONDO辭職後Lucchesi說，『但狀況有些混雜。

球員，我只有百分之十的排陣功能。』
此外，VIOLA的醫生確認被擔架抬走的Miccoli大腿受傷但不嚴重。
