A few eyebrows were raised in the summer when Juventus released Enzo Maresca
and his performance in Week 9 explained why. The midfielder illustrated just
how good a player he really is by inspiring Fiorentina to a shock 4-0 win over
Lecce.
It’s no accident that the Viola’s change in form has coincided with the
return of the Italian from injury. The Tuscans looked rather fragile and short
of ideas under former boss Emiliano Mondonico, but that is no longer the case
thanks to the ex-Under-21 international.
Maresca is a unique player in the Italian game. He is a midfielder who has a
rare mix of quantity and quality. He can win back the ball but also dispense it
with as much class as ease. If he can continue on this road then he surely has
a realistic chance of breaking into Marcello Lippi’s Azzurri plans.
Maresca wasn’t the only Viola individual to shine at the Stadio Franchi.
Another former Juve player in the shape of Giorgio Chiellini underlined his
potential, while Nigerian youngster Cristian Obodo netted a brace – including
a stunning 40-yard lob.
Juventus’ Pavel Nedved also found the back of the net in style during the 3-0
win over Chievo. His stunning strike capped off an impressive game for the
Czech ace who is back to his very best. Without the suspended Emerson and the
injured Alex Del Piero, it was the European Footballer of the Year who turned
leader for the afternoon.
That victory ensured that the Turin giants maintained their five-point lead
over Milan who won in controversial fashion at Samp. Andriy Shevchenko came off
the bench to score the only goal, one that should have clearly been ruled out
for offside. Yet Shev’s 30-minute display simply underlined that he is an
irreplaceable figure in the Rossoneri line-up. Kaka and Massimo Ambrosini also
did well.
Roma archived their loss at Juventus with a stunning 5-1 win. Cagliari crumbled
in the capital even though Antonio Cassano disappointed again. Where is that
player who did so well at Euro 2004? Fortunately for the heavily criticised
Giallorossi, there were some inspired performances from Daniele De Rossi,
Simone Perrotta, sub Vincenzo Montella and Francesco Totti – even if he missed
a penalty.
Fans at the Stadio Tardini saw two stars of the future in the shape of Alberto
Gilardino and Riccardo Montolivo. The Italian international striker hit twice,
while the latter was sublime for Atalanta in the 2-2 draw. The Azzurrini
regular, who also found the target, is definitely one to watch. Goalkeeper
Massimo Taibi and Demetrio Albertini performed well for the Nerazzurri too.
It was a good weekend for goalkeepers with Marco Amelia (Livorno), Matteo
Sereni (Lazio) and Gianluca Pagliuca (Bologna) making fine saves. The latter
was only beaten by an Enrico Chiesa wonder strike as the Siena veteran capped
off his best performance of the campaign with a goal.
While there was also glory for one of Serie A’s older players as Nestor
Sensini, 38, gave nothing away against Luca Toni and his Palermo colleagues
during the 1-0 Udinese win. When a player is this intelligent, age is a mere
insignificant detail.

本週最佳球員：馬雷斯卡
很多人對尤文圖斯放走馬雷斯卡不以為然，第九輪的比賽可以解釋。
馬雷斯卡以4-0大勝雷切表現出他有多好。
毫無意外，VIOLA的機會來臨與馬雷斯卡從傷病回歸的時機一致，在
MONDO的帶領下，托斯卡納人看起來有點遜，不過感謝這位前U-21選
手，再也不是如此了。馬雷斯卡在義大利的比賽裡是獨特的。他是一
個兼具質與量的中場。他可以自己進球，也可以派出好球。如果他可
以持續這條道路，他很難不會成為里皮藍軍的成員。
馬雷不是弗蘭奇球場唯一閃亮的球員，另一個前由文圖斯球員齊耶利
尼正在彰顯他的潛能，當奈及利亞年輕人歐伯多進了兩球，包括其中
一個40碼令人暈眩的高吊球。
尤文圖斯的內德維德也在3-0勝切沃中進球。他絕美的進球使這場印象
深刻的比賽更出色，捷克人又回到他的最佳狀態了。沒有愛莫森的支
援和受傷的迪皮耶羅，迪皮耶羅下午已經回來了。(？)
這場勝利讓都靈巨人五分領先米蘭佔居排行榜守，米蘭本週贏得了SAMP
。舍甫琴科替補上場進了唯一一球，很清楚的應該不是越位球。舍甫
的30分鐘表現彰顯他是紅黑球員中無可取代的旗幟。卡卡和安布羅西
尼也做得很好。
羅馬將對尤文圖斯的失敗收起展現出5-1的絕妙勝利。雖然卡薩諾再次
消失，卡利亞里還是在首都崩潰。那個在EURO2004表現很好的球員去
哪了？幸運地，在黃紅軍沉重的輿論壓力下，依然有德羅西、佩羅塔
、蒙特拉和托蒂，雖然托蒂踢飛了點球。
在塔爾第尼球場的球迷看到了兩顆未來之星，一個是吉拉蒂諾，一個
是蒙托里沃。義大利國家隊球員在這場2-2被追平的比賽中進了兩球。
他再次值得注目地找到目標。守門員泰比和阿貝爾第尼為亞特蘭大表
現得很好。
對守門員阿梅利亞(里沃諾)、歇藍尼(拉齊奧)、帕柳卡(博洛尼亞)來
說是個好週末，他們救了許多好球。帕柳卡只讓席耶那的資深球員齊
耶薩進了一球，做出了他的最佳表現。對義甲老球員森西尼來說，38
歲對防守托尼也能表現得很好，托尼和他的帕雷爾莫隊友以1-0輸給
了烏迪內斯。當球員天賦優異，年齡不算什麼。
