Fiorentina have signed 20-year-old Anderlecht defender Anthony Vanden Borre,
confirmed the club.
The Viola released a statement this afternoon announcing the arrival of the
versatile young player who has put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
Vanden Borre was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but is a
Belgian international who made his senior debut in a friendly against Turkey
in April 2004.
Able to play at right-back or in central defence, he had been linked with a
series of top clubs including Bayern Munich, Inter, Barcelona, Juventus and
Tottenham.
Fiorentina are bolstering their squad with young talent after picking up
Arturo Lupoli from Derby County along with Czech teenagers Ondrej Mazuch and
Jan Hable.
They are also expected to finalise a transfer for Chievo winger Franco
Semioli next week.
