Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has rubbished suggestions that he will
move to Milan this summer. “I would be a fool.”
The French custodian is one of the most highly rated No 1’s in Serie A and
has often been touted as a replacement for the struggling Nelson Dida at
Milan.
Recent reports stated that Frey had bought a house in Milan in preparation
for a summer switch, but the 27-year-old has laughed off such talk.
“Football is full of players who pledge their future to a club and then
leave after six months, but I am in another category,” he explained in an
interview with La Nazione.
“I stayed here at Fiorentina when we were bound for Serie B – I don’t see
why I would leave now that we are fifth and moving towards the UEFA Cup.
“I would be a fool to be thinking of quitting this club right now. Things
will be discussed in the summer.
“Working with Cesare Prandelli is a factor in my decision. I won’t give a
percentage, but I will say that he is very important as it is fundamental to
work with someone who respects you.”
