PSV Eindhoven starlet Ibrahim Afellay is unlikely to make a summer move to
Fiorentina, according to the player's agent.
The 22-year-old Afellay is one of the Dutch league's most promising young
players, and he has been attracting the interest of Fiorentina who, despite
already signing the likes of Alberto Gilardino and Stevan Jovetic, are
looking to further strengthen ahead of next season.
However Afellay's agent Ed Van Stijn has revealed that it is unlikely a
transfer will take place, even if he has admitted that the Viola are
interested.
「I don't know if there will be any contact with Fiorentina, but there is
interest on the part of sporting director Pantaleo Corvino,」 agent Van Stijn
told Radio Blu.
「His contract terms are well within the financial parameters of the Della
Valle family, but at the moment he isn't for sale.
「Goalkeeper Gomes and Jefferson Farfan are set to leave PSV and to prise
Afellay away as well would require an offer they couldn't refuse.」
Fiorentina star man Adrian Mutu is believed to be unsettled in Florence, and
Van Stijn thinks that Farfan would be the prefect replacement for the
Romanian.
「In my opinion, they would be better served looking for Farfan as a
replacement for Mutu because his rescission clause is set at ￡8m,」 the
agent concluded.
