Viola prepare Ballack bid
Inter have been heavily linked with Michael Ballack, but it’s now reported
Fiorentina would sign him if they entered the Champions League.
The German international will be out of contract with Bayern Munich at the
end of the season and is tempted by offers from Europe’s top clubs,
including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Juventus.
Inter supremo Massimo Moratti has made no secret of his admiration for the
midfielder, even if his future depends on whether Juan Sebastian Veron
decides to return to Argentina in the summer.
The ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’ claims that Fiorentina will take advantage of
this hesitation by making a sensational swoop for Ballack if they succeed in
qualifying for the Champions League.
Reaching this tournament would provide the Viola with around ?7m between
sponsors, TV rights and tickets, not to mention raising the profile of the
club that was in Serie C2 in 2002-03.
Ballack would be a more experienced option to bolster their midfield, as Roma
seem reticent to release first choice Daniele De Rossi.
