Giampaolo Pazzini says that Fiorentina aren’t even thinking about qualifying
for the Champions League. "Salvation comes first," he said.

Pazzini has enjoyed his first full season at Fiorentina despite living
largely in the shadow of Luca Toni and his extraordinary goalscoring feats.

But the former Atalanta striker claims that, although the Viola are currently
riding high in Serie A, no-one at the club is talking about Europe - their
first objective is a far more modest cause.

"We’re aware that we’re doing well," he said. "Occasionally we mention the
fact that we’re in second place, but the positive thing is that we talk

The Gigliati are 10 points behind League leaders Juventus at present and were
unlucky not to come away from their recent match with the Bianconeri with a

But perhaps it is their level-headed attitude that permitted them to bounce
back from that defeat with a win over Treviso on Saturday night.

negotiate, but Pazzini is confident the Viola can maintain their momentum
