Fiorentina Coach Cesare Prandelli is confident that the Viola will compete
for major honours within the next three years.
The Tuscan outfit impressed last season, ending the Serie A campaign in fifth
place despite the 15-point penalisation handed out for their part in the
Calciopoli scandal.
The previous term they were only denied a Champions League spot due to
Calciopoli and Prandelli is confident that good times aren't too far away.
「We have many young players, which means that there is great enthusiasm,」
Prandelli told Sky Italia. 「It isn't easy to invest in young footballers in
Italy, because everybody wants immediate results.
「In two or three years we will compete for important objectives. What are we
lacking now? Nothing. But we remain alert.」
Prandelli was also questioned on Christian Vieri's arrival in Tuscany after
the striker signed a one-year deal with the Gigliati.
「Sporting director Pantaleo Corvino had the idea,」 he said. 「I spoke to
Bobo – he is motivated, determined and remains a champion.
「We must not rush things though. When he is fit I am sure he will do well.
He is working hard, but mustn't over do it. I am sure he will be ready by the
end of August.」
