GO ON RUNNING FOR MILAN, SERGIO!
Sergio Claudio dos Santos turns 32 today. His birthday falls not on an ordinary
day, but follows Paolo Maldini's who was born on June 26. Coincidence or fate?
We cannot say it but what is certain is that the Brazilian is not a common
player, but a star who has earned a first-team place at Milan showing his grit,
wisdom and hard work. He joined the club four years ago, in summer 1999, with a
precise thought in his mind: win and convince. In the past seasons he has been
crucial many times: nobody can forget that special May 11, as Sergio inspired
Milan in their spectacular 6-0 victory over Inter in the Milanese derby. But
it was last season that gave the Rossonero winger much satisfaction: he won the
Coppa Italia and was crowned European champion, lifting the Champions League
trophy to the sky. Running, dribbling and goals: these are the best qualities
of Sergio who, along with Andriy Shevchenko, has been the only Rossonero who
scored in both last season's final. Now he is ready to face a new campaign:
