Milan have not won the first three consecutive matches of the Serie A for eight
seasons; they have not been successful at Perugia for three years. The last 
time was back on January 30, 2000, with an hat-trick from Andriy Shevchenko 
which decided the match. On Sunday the Ukrainian star did his best to leave his
mark once again, but he didn't score. 

Coach Carlo Ancelotti really wanted to change Milan's negative tradition in 
Umbria and played an attack-minded team with Kaka partnering Manuel Rui Costa
behind the strike pair, but after a good start the Rossoneri lost their 
dominance and were no more able to maintain their high pace.

The final 1-1 draw is not a bad result, though. The Renato Curi stadium is a 
difficult one to play in and few teams will be able to take all the points      
there. Moreover, the Rossoneri, like the other Serie A top-flight sides, 
suffered some tiredness after the Champions League midweek games. 

Rino Gattuso deserved special plaudits, as he scored his second goal in the 
Serie A - his first was back on February 12, 2000 at Bologna. The gritty 
midfielder, who ran to the stand where the Milan fans were to celebrate his 
achievement, was rewarded for the hard work he had produced while being on, 
before making way for Andrea Pirlo in the 54th minute and continuing to support
his team-mates from the bench. He should be a role-model for every player.
