GATTUSO: 'To be at Milan is a spur to improve' 21 October 2003 12:49 MILAN- Gennaro Gattuso followed in the footsteps of captain Paolo Maldini, as he contacted the Milan Channel during their 'Studio Milan' live debate. The Rossonero midfielder talked about the team's performance against Lazio and not only. Below is the whole interview: Q: Milan suffered some early pressure from Lazio, then what did it happen? A: It's true, we really suffered, Lazio are a well-organised team. At the start we did not play through the midfield and hit too many long balls but then we raised our game and started to play. Seedorf and me saw we had to work harder along the flanks where at times we were out-numbered. Q: The sensation is that this Milan side get through more comfortably than last season. What do you think? A: We are very quick, we just need three or four passes to get close to the goal, it is one of the best qualities we have shown so far. Q: What about Alberto Zaccheroni's signing with Inter? A: Zaccheroni is a well-prepared coach and I think he will find the right men at Inter to play his favourite template. However, he did not choose the players himself and this can make things a bit difficult for him. Q: How have you managed to improve so much in the technical side of the game? A: Thanks to the help of Gigi Balestra and Mauro Tassotti. I work a lot with them during the week. Mauro taught me to use also my left foot to kick. Q: To be at Milan means to have made it. Do you agree? A: Certainly not, you can never give up at Milan, there many stars and if you want a chance, you have to do your best every day. Q: What idea did you get about the refereeing polemics following Milan v Lazio? A: We win so we are looked unpleasantly. It is quite normal but people must understand that the referees make mistake as the players. They don't act in bad faith, when they make decisions. Q: Your opinion about the San Siro pitch... A: It simply scandalous. Sometimes it seems to play on the beach and our legs are at risk. I don't want to offend anybody and I hope nobody will because I always support who works but this is my opinion.
