Nesta has both excellent techniques and physical strength and there
is no doubt (and everybody will admit) that he is one of the best
center backs in the world.  Nesta删s stable play brought Maldini
back to his top form last season.  We are currently aiming to develop
our spectacular attacking football, and in order for us to achieve
our goal a strong defense is essential.  In that sense, Nesta joining
Milan has been a great benefit.  After having spent one season in
Milan, his play in the defense line in coalition with his teammates
has become more stable and he also has qualifications as a leader to
lead the next generation.

Evidence 2:  Dario Simic
We had some concerns in defense at a few preseason matches before
Nesta joined us.  But after he joined us, our defense line became
well balanced.  It is obvious even without seeing the records.  I
feel mentally secured playing with Maldini and Nesta.  I will also do
my best as well this season.

Evidence 3:  Alessandro Costacurta
The reason Maldini and I could play at the top form as we used to do
in the past days was because Nesta played beside us.  We would like
to continue playing this way and get as many titles as we can.  Milan
certainly has made the best buy in the recent 10 years.

Evidence 4:  Paolo Maldini
Everybody knows that Sandro is a great center back; it is obvious.
If Sandro had not join Milan last season, the defenders in Milan
should have received various criticisms as before; Sandro has brought
stability to Milan删s defense line.  A lot of people said that
Sandro, in Rossonero uniform and playing beside me, looked like
having been playing in Milan for many years.  It is not surprising at
all because we used to play together in Azzurri for many years.  We
played for the whole season together in Milan, so Sandro删s play
in Milan will become more stable.  Sandro is the player whom Milan
has desperately longed for.  The fact that we could win the title of
European Champion shows that his joining us has brought a good result.

Evidence 5:  Filippo Inzaghi
I have been suggesting the front to get Nesta for a long time.  It
came true and we could win the Big Ear last season.  So, our decision
turned to be right.  Milan删s midfielders are rather offensive and
they can participate in attacking without any concern because Milan
has trustful defenders.  Even when we are counter attacked, we do not
have to worry about being scored if we have a strong defense line.
It is difficult to figure the contribution of Nesta who is
controlling such defense line.

Evidence 6:  Franco Baresi
There are a lot of talented football players.  For example, Rio
Ferdinand of England is certainly one of them, but it is difficult
for a football player from England to prove himself at Serie A.
However, Nesta will be able to do well in England.  Yes, he is
certainly the best center back in the world.  A lot of people say
that Nesta is my successor.  Nesta is physically much stronger than I
am.  If he becomes more experienced and keeps on refining his
techniques, he will be able to wear my number 6.

Evidence 7:  Adriano Galliani
Milan got 5 players in Mercato last season and the most efficient
acquisition was obviously Nesta.  The goals of Milan, with a lot of
great players, were to get Scudetto and win the Champions League.
And we got Nesta as our highest card.  Milan lost the Scudetto but
won the title of European Champion.  Milan删s golden age in 80删s and
90删s owed to the strong defense and in recent world of Calcio we
believe it impossible to get a big title without a stable defense.
Milan删s defense has certainly become stable after Nesta joining
us and it made possible for the midfielders to participate in
attacking without any concern.  Nesta has an influence not only to
defenders but also to midfielders or attackers.  The center back pair
of Nesta and Maldini resembles that of Baresi and Costacurta or
Baresi and Filippo Galli who established the golden age of Milan.

Evidence 8:  Sirvio Berlusconi
I do not have to worry about seeing a corrupted defense after Baresi
left Milan.  This is due to the stable play by Nesta.
