RUI COSTA: 'I would like to play along with Kaka'

MILAN - Manuel Rui Costa was contacted live during the 'Studio Milan'
talk-show. The Portuguese star went back to the past campaign and his
experience at EURO 2004 before looking ahead to the upcoming season.
He said:
'My return to Milanello was an expected one because I didn't hint at a club
departure last May. The messages I received from the officials over the
summer were just a confirmation of this. And here I am, with the same
mentality, the same will, the same determination of ever, I want to help a
team who has been really successful in these years but who still looks for
victories. A club like Milan know that to play all the games we have this
year, considering the 20 teams involved in Serie A, eleven players are not
enough: Milan tried to create a big group and they have managed in this.
The merit in the last years has been that they were able not to lose their
men. They kept a solid group and added the players they needed; so I think
everyone will have his chance. Me as well. Of course, everyone will have to
give it their best to earn a start in competitive games. When a team is
successful, even those who don't play often are happier to be part of the
group. It is obvious that nobody is happy to be dropped to the bench, but
only eleven men take the pitch and when they do well, the others must be able
to wait for their chance. This season Kaka had an extraordinary season, it is
clear that I was sidelined: but it is not a reason for me not to wish Kaka to
repeat himself. Well, I just hope not to have to play alone should Kaka be
out. This is what I would like for the next season:
not to stick to the rule 'either Kaka or Rui Costa', we can play together.'
