THE WISDOM OF RUI COSTA                     Nov.24.2003

  MILAN – The strength of a player emerges from a lot of different details. Fr
-om the way in which he plays but also from the way he deals with problems. Man
-uel Rui Costa has already shown his wisdom more than once. And he did it again
the day after Milan's 2-0 win away to Chievo, as the Rossonero playmaker met th
-e journalists at the club's usual press conference.
  一位偉大球員的價值是可以從許多小細節體會出來的.有可能從他踢球的方式感受,也或
許是從他處理問題的態度方法上體會.而乳液就是這樣一位不僅一次展現出他老練智慧的球
員.就在米蘭以2比0戰勝主場作戰的切沃後,乳液又再次於米蘭例行記者會上表現出他獨到
的智慧.

  Rui's problem should be the lack of goals but he does not make a drama of it.
He really would like to score but is aware that the most important thing is to
help the team. He said: 'Everyone is asking me about goals. I mean, I would be
worried, if I didn't get into the match,I didn't try my luck or didn't help the
team. But I think I'm doing well all the same. My task is to help the team both
in attacking and defending. I've always repeated it, assists are worth the same
as goals.'
  人們都認為乳液目前的最大問題是進球荒,但他並不這麼覺得.乳液確實很想進球,但他也
同時認為現階段最重要的任務還是幫助球隊贏球.乳液這麼說著:"每個人都期望著我的進球
.但對我而言,真正該擔心的是我是否有全力投入比賽,是否有試著射門得分,是否有為球隊
                                                                                
作出貢獻.而且我覺得這幾項我都有作到了.我的任務便是能在場上維持攻守俱佳.所以我會
繼續這麼努力下去,繼續送出與進球價值相當的助攻."

  He was obviously a bit disappointed after Chievo goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani
denied him with his fingertips in the first half. He admitted: 'Marchegiani mad
-e a superb save, what a pity. However, that effort boosted me and then I did
my best. I have been close to scoring a lot of times recently: against Lecce I
hit the bar, against Sampdoria I had two good shots... I will probably score wh
-en I don't expect it. Perhaps through a bad shot.'
  乳液對於切沃門將--Luca Marchegiani在上半場時以指尖將自己的射門破壞掉也感到很
遺憾:"Marchegiani作出了精采的撲救,那個進球也真的很可惜!然而,在這之後我反而更加
努力,盡量表現出我最好的一面.其實最近有幾次我幾乎能夠踢進睽違已久的進球:對戰萊切
時我踢中門框,對戰桑普多利亞時我也有兩次相當漂亮的射門....不過我想我應該只會在不
經意間時進球得分吧!又也許會是個很奇怪的射門也不一定."

  From the matter of the goal to another hot topic: rotation. Manuel believes
that Milan's fortune is to have so many players at their disposal. He explained
: 'We have to try to understand the coach's decisions. It is hard for him to ma
-ke choices because he has more than one player for each role who is in form an
-d a star. If you are dropped to the bench, you must answer on the pitch. And
it is what I usually try to do, I have never cried.' And he aded: 'We are lucky
enough to have a wide and quality team, we must be able to make the most of it  
to reach all our achievements which obviously include the Scudetto.' Rui Costa
also compared former Fiorentina team-mate Gabriel Omar Batistuta with Andriy Sh
-evchenko who passed the century goal mark for the Rossoneri on Sunday.He said:
'They are very different players who have the goal-instinct in common. Two almo
-st unique stars. They have made my fortune.'

替補席上,那麼你就從下次的場上表現中再度證明自己的價值.而這也是我現在正努力嘗試
的,我也絕不會因為最近的事而哭泣."乳液繼續說著:"很幸運地,我們擁有一支華麗隊伍,而
我們必須靠著這項優勢盡力作到最好以達到我們夢想中的許多成就,包括聯賽冠軍."接著乳
液也將自己以前在佛羅倫薩的隊友--Gabriel Omar Batistuta與舍娃作個比較:"他們是兩
個完全不同的球員,但在對進球的嗅覺上卻十分相同.他們是兩位如此獨特的球員,且也讓我
學到了許多."

  The Portuguese star them looked ahead to the Amsterdam trip. Milan will have
to win on Wednesday against Ajax in the Champions League to go through to the
next stage. He said: 'It will be a difficult game between two teams who know ea
-ch other very well. Last season we all remember how it finished,that's why the
-y would like to take their revenge.' And he added: 'They play exceptional foot 
-ball, the key to defeating them will be to defend accurately, preventing them
from going wide and then hit.'

  The climax of the next month will be the Intercontinental Cup final whose fas
-cination is unique, as Rui admitted in the closing stages of the conference.He
said: 'Of course it is a very important final both for those who have already
played it like [Paolo] Maldini and [Billy] Costacurta and those who will face
it for the first time. We want to win it, but before we have to think of Wednes
-day.'
  下個月的主要話題將會一直圍繞在豐田杯上,乳液也坦白地說著:"無庸置疑地,那將會是
