Kaladze lands Georgia's player award
TBILISI, June 26 (Reuters) -
AC Milan winger Kakha Kaladze has been voted Georgia's player of the year
in a poll conducted by leading sports daily Sarbieli.
Kaladze won the award for the second year in a row after beating
striker Alexandre Iashvili - who plays for SC Freiburg in Germany -
by an overwhelming margin.
Freiburg defender Levan Kobiashvili, who won the accolade in in 2000 and
came second last year, was third.
Kaladze, 24, threatened to stop playing for Georgia after his brother
Levan was kidnapped on his way home from medical school in Tbilisi last year,
but has since had a change of heart.
