100 MATCHES TWICE
Zambrotta has had 97 caps for Italy and 75 appearances for Milan so far,
now his target is 100 both on international and club level.
MILAN - Gianluca Zambrotta’s call-up to the national team has pleased
everyone at Milan. Zambro has always been an exemplary professional. He
has had a great attitude and has been always available , for which the
club is grateful of course.
Italian national team coach Cesare Prandelli, who was in the stands in
Parma Saturday evening, was apparently convinced by Zambrotta’s performance
against the hosts. After all, Zambrotta was one of the best of the less than
brilliant Azzurri at the World Cup in South Africa this summer.
In the world of football Zambrotta’s career at the national team seemed to
have finished with Italy’s game against Slovakia in Johannesburg. However,
those who have pride and passion, are always given due consideration.
Gianluca is a composed person. But one like him, with 97 caps for Italy
under his belt, having made his international debut in 1999, can give his
opinion. Yesterday at Coverciano, Zambro declared he wanted to reach 100
appearances for Italy. We wish him to do so, as it would be a great
achievement in a very successful career.
On the other hand, Zambro has played a total of 75 matches for Milan, of
which 60 in the championship, thus he has a good chance to reach 100
appearances also at club level during the season.
