Dario Simic is hoping that his performance against Parma convinces
Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti to hand him a regular spot.
The Croatian defender was on top form as the Rossoneri came away
from the Stadio Tardini with a 2-0 win, maintaining their 100 per
cent record.
“I am delighted with my performance,” said Simic. “I feel more
at ease as a centre-back, but when I arrived here at Milan I was asked
to play at full-back and I agreed.
“I have been fortunate enough to meet some great players like Paolo
Maldini, Alessandro Costacurta and Alessandro Nesta, and they have
taught me so much during these years.
“Now there is more space for me in the centre and I am glad to play
in the role I prefer.
“We’ve begun the campaign well, winning five matches in a row. It
won’t be easy to keep this pace, and we still need to improve our
physical condition.
“I think Ancelotti (pictured) is managing the team very well, he
has many players at his disposal and it isn’t easy to change six
players and still win.”
Simic was decisive against Parma 67 minutes into the match, when he
made a desperate goal line clearance which prevented Andrea Gasbarroni
from equalising.
“That is something I learned from Maldini and Costacurta – you
must never let go, right until the end,” he added.
“It wasn’t an easy situation. I had a Parma striker behind me and
I had no idea if Gasbarroni would pass the ball or shoot.
“I am glad I was useful for the team and I hope this will be a good
season for me – I would like to repay this club and its staff as they
have always done a lot for me.”
