Lazio were held to a 1-1 draw by Universitatea Craiova, but Parma and Siena
registered wins with Alberto Paloschi bagging a hat-trick.
The Biancocelesti took on Romanian opposition at the Auronzo di Cadore training
ground and fielded a 4-2-3-1 system with Tommaso Rocchi backed by Mauro Zarate,
Pasquale Foggia and Stefano Mauri.
Lazio had several chances with Rocchi, Zarate and Foggia, but Stefan
Lichtsteiner needed a goalline clearance to deny Costea's angled drive.
Coach Davide Ballardini made sweeping changes after the restart and Lionel
Scaloni broke through at the second attempt when one-on-one with the
goalkeeper.
Fabio Firmani and Simone Inzaghi both wasted the chance to win it and
Universitatea Craiova equalised with Baird's free header.
Parma had considerably more success in their friendly against a local Val
Venosta squad, emerging 7-0 winners.
Paloschi was the star of the show, as the Milan-owned teenage striker scored
a hat-trick. New buy Biabiany also bagged two, while Leon and Manzoni completed
the rout.
Siena opened up their pre-season by hammering local team Dimaro 9-1. Michele
Paolucci and Emanuele Calaiò both got a brace with Reginaldo, Brandao,
Ghezzal, Codrea and Blanchard rounding out the scoreline.
