Newly appointed Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he offered Paolo Maldini a job
at Chelsea but the Milan legend turned him down.
Ancelotti was hoping to sign the retiring player as a member of his backroom
staff, but Maldini told him he has completely different plans.
"I talked to him about it and made an offer," revealed Carletto.
"But he told me he wanted some free time for himself and his family.
After so many years spent on the pitch, it is understandable."
The 40-year-old met up with the new Chelsea manager in London a couple of
weeks ago and was introduced to assistant Coaches Ray Wilkins and Paul Clement.
Maldini is not the only one Ancelotti tried to take with him to London as he
also approached Mauro Tassotti and other staff members at Milan, but the club
did not allow them to leave.
