Wesley Sneijder not only wants to score in the Milan derby, he wants to do i
t with one of his now trademark free-kicks.
The Dutchman has been a key player for Inter in the post-Ibra era and he’s
making a name for himself as a free-kick specialist.
After rippling the net on four occasions already this term from a set-piece
– against Livorno, Catania and two against Siena – he wants to make it fiv
e on Sunday evening.
“I want to score at the weekend against Milan with one,” said the late sum
mer acquisition from Real Madrid.
Asked what was the secret behind his success at set-plays, the Holland inter
national thanked a Coach from his past.
“At Ajax I was bossed by Ronald Koeman, a man who knew a thing or two about
taking free-kicks,” the playmaker noted.
“He taught me how to kick a ball more cleanly, but the secret is down to pr
actice, practice and practice.”
Sneijder made his Serie A debut in the first meeting between the two sides t
his season in which the Nerazzurri collected a 4-0 victory.
“The atmosphere is warm here,” he noted. “I instantly settled and the clu
b even helped me to find a wonderful house.
“The past? I had some good years at Real Madrid, but life is better here in
Milan. My first season at Real went well, but then I got injured and had a
few other problems.”
