Seedorf defends Ancelotti
Thursday 28 September, 2006
Clarence Seedorf believes that the Christmas Tree formation is perfectly
suited to Milan’s style of play.
The Rossoneri used Seedorf and Kaka in a more advanced role to support
Alberto Gilardino in the 0-0 Champions League draw at Lille on Tuesday,
but Carlo Ancelotti’s decision was not approved by the Brazilian star,
who said he hates the one striker formation.
“I don’t know exactly what Kaka said, but we play well with the
Christmas Tree system and it certainly isn’t new for us” said Seedorf.
“It is our second favourite formation, so I don’t see any problem.
“Kaka was tired and that is understandable after playing three matches
in a very short period of time, but I am sure that his words really
stemmed from the fact that he was sorry we weren’t able to bring back
three points.
“I don’t want to go into this issue, we have played together so many
times and everyone needs to adapt.”
Rino Gattuso was also quick to defend Ancelotti’s tactical decisions.
“The formation I prefer? The one preferred by the Coach,” said the
world champion with his usual eloquence.

Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti has reassured Rossoneri fans that there is
no problem with Brazilian ace Kaka.
The talented youngster was unhappy with the formation fielded by Ancelotti
in the 0-0 Champions League draw at Lille on Tuesday, but the tactician was
eager to play down the seriousness of the situation.
“The atmosphere described by the Press is totally false, I want all our
supporters to know that there is great harmony in the club,” Ancelotti
told Milan Channel on Thursday.
“We all respect each other and I don’t understand how the papers can say
anything different.
“I am not disappointed about what happened, but I only thought the fans
should know the truth.
“I will speak to my players, as they need to be more careful when they
release statements to the media,” continued the boss, who was caught by
the television cameras in a heated discussion with Clarence Seedorf during
Saturday’s match with Livorno.
“All these things are part of the game. I would now like the team to isolate
itself from the outside, to avoid any further misunderstanding.
“We have to continue our work, just as we have done until now.”
