Seedorf feels French nerves

Clarence Seedorf believes the French air isn’t good for Milan,
but assures his row with Carlo Ancelotti has been shelved.
“We deserved to win this game,” he said of the 0-0 draw at Lille.
“We maintained possession and tried to find a way through, but wasted
a lot of opportunities. It reminds me of Lyon last season and in fact
they had a couple of chances on the counter-attack.”
Seedorf had hit the back of the net, but the goal was incorrectly
disallowed for an offside position.
“I thought I was offside to be honest, but kept going because until you
hear the whistle, you never know! This is still the start of the season,
we have a long way to go yet, but we still managed to push hard until
the 80th minute. There are opponents we are facing here and Milan cannot
be expected to steamroller past everyone.”
Seedorf was given a slightly more advanced position at Lille, using the
Dutchman and Kaka in support of Alberto Gilardino.
“We’ve used this tactic a lot since I’ve been here and are used to it.
The Christmas Tree is our second choice system and always has been. I’ve
always felt like a Number 10, but we had some great champions in that role
like Manuel Rui Costa, so it’s nice to be wearing that shirt now.”
The midfielder has been in the news this week following his furious touchline
row with Coach Carlo Ancelotti, but he assures it was a storm in a teacup.
“There was nothing to talk about. It was between us and quickly forgotten,
but the Press had fun discussing it for a few days. I didn’t throw the
bottle at Ancelotti! I was drinking by the touchline and had to throw it
somewhere, as I couldn’t just play while holding the water.”
