MILAN AT THE DOUBLE

Milan got their pre-season preparations off to a good start, with a 2-0 win
over Lecco in their friendly of the summer. Filippo Inzaghi opened the
scoring on 28 minutes and Marco Borriello added a second four minutes from
time. With Red Star Belgrade next up on August 9 in the preliminary round of
the Champions League, coach Carlo Ancelotti started with Dida behind a back
four of Brocchi, Favalli and Costacurta in the centre and Jankulovski on the
left. The midfield was made up of Gattuso, Ambrosini, Seedorf and new signing
Yoann Gourcuff while World Cup winners Inzaghi and Gilardino led the attack.
Inzaghi’s goal came after a pass from Seedorf, with the striker lifting the
ball over the goalkeeper. Another new signing, Daniele Bonera was given a
run-out along with Amoroso, Foggia, Vogel and Borriello whose fine shot just
under the bar sealed the win. The team are well on their way to that
all-important August 9 date at the San Siro.
