Milan eye Di Natale swoop
Monday 9 October, 2006
Milan are ready to buy themselves something nice for Christmas in the shape
of Antonio Di Natale.
The Rossoneri are considering boosting their attacking options for 2007 and
the Udinese man is a possibility.
After losing Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea in the summer, Milan brought in
Ricardo Oliveira from Real Betis.
However, the Brazilian is taking his time to settle while there are also
concerns over the form of Pippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino.
As a result, boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen on adding a new dimension to his
offensive options and Di Natale – the Italian word for Christmas – is the
perfect addition in theory.
The former Empoli hitman would add pace to the Rossoneri attack and his
ability to play on the flanks may be of use to vary tactics during games.
The Italian international, who delightfully assisted Luca Toni’s goal against
the Ukraine on Saturday, also comes with an added bonus.
With Udinese not taking part in European competition this season, Di Natale
would be immediately available for Champions League football should he
complete a January move.
The 29-year-old would be a difficult man to sign though given that the Stadio
Friuli outfit value him at around 5m.
Nevertheless, there is also a player plus cash option that could see former
Under-21 international striker Marco Borriello head to Udine.
The latter was already requested by the Bianconeri in the summer, but remained
at the San Siro after no deal could be agreed.

Milan plot Rinaudo swoop
Monday 9 October, 2006
Milan are planning to rejuvenate their ageing defence after taking an interest
in Leandro Rinaudo.
Reports in Italy on Monday morning suggest that the Siena player has caught
the attention of the club’s hierarchy.
Rinaudo, just 23-years-old, is actually owned by Palermo and joined the
Bianconeri on a loan deal in the summer.
Whispers in the peninsula claim that Rinaudo wouldn’t arrive at the San Siro
until next summer, but talks over his transfer could be wrapped up as soon as January.
Rinaudo was born in Palermo in 1983 and started his career with the Rosanero
in Serie B during 2001-02.
He subsequently spent spells at Varese, Salernitana and Cesena before returning
to the Barbera last summer.
Milan’s rearguard still includes some real veterans with Marcos Cafu, Paolo
Maldini and Billy Costacurta having a combined age of 114.
Chievo’s Davide Mandelli, 29, is another stopper understood to be on the Via
Turati transfer sheet.
