Serie A Preview: Milan-Parma

Background
Milan are on fire at the present time, and the next team to assume the
unenviable task of trying to take points away from the San Siro is none other
than Parma.
Depending on the outcome of the derby between Fabio Capello's Roma and Roberto
Mancini's Lazio the following night, a home win could see the rossoneri shoot
ten points clear of their nearest rivals, the giallorossi.
Goals on Saturday could come from any of Milan's midfielders or forwards in a
match which will certainly not end scoreless like it did the last time the two
teams met back in November.
Parma's lone striker Gilardino will be looking to respond on behalf of his side
if he gets good service from players such as Barone and Blasi in the centre of
the park.
This will be a point-booster for the hosts who, in truth, would not want the
visitors to be the only side that they have failed to score against this season.
So while their football will be as attractive as usual to watch, Milan will be
committed to scoring as many goals as they can in order to ensure that history
does not repeat itself.

Milan:
The fact that Inzaghi does not believe the latest stories that his club have
all but clinched this season's championship says much about the striker.
And as he thinks the buzz about the title belonging to Milan is rubbish, it is
likely that his teammates also share this view.
"Everybody is trying to make us comfortable by saying that we have already won
the scudetto," said Inzaghi.
"They are doing this because they are hoping we will make a mistake."
There seems to be no chance that they will.
The rossoneri have a strong sense of purpose, one that has earned them the top
spot in the table with 64 points from 25 games.
And with just over two months of the season to go, they are in no danger of
losing this determination.
Parma:
Blasi tested positive for nandrolone after the game against Serse Cosmi's
Perugia last September, he was handed a five-month ban and he has now served
that lengthy stint of time away from the game.
"It was difficult but finally I can return to the field and play," he said.
"I hope all that remains is the bitter memory."
If this is what he has said before his first game back, then wait until he has
played a month of football.
He will be talking to the press as if he had never served the suspension period
for taking the banned substance in the first place.

Milan:
Injury has meant that Inzaghi has not lived up to his usual lofty standards
this season.
Now that he is back, watch him use this game, and the remaining eight of the
season, to impress teammates and coaching staff alike with his pace, poise
and intelligence in attack.
Parma:
Gilardino is a forward worthy of a grander stage to strut his exciting stuff.
See him treat this outing at the San Siro Stadium as an opportunity to create
tremors in the steadfast Milan defence and hopefully catch the eye of
opposition coach Ancelotti.
