In response to this some changes have been made to the discussion lists behind the scenes to help facilitate better discussion and communication over the email lists. There are currently about 150 general discussion lists (not including country specific lists) which have members subscribed to them. Of these lists, about half have active discussion occurring. The purpose of the discussion lists in a broad sense is simply to facilitate communication between AIESEC members about specific topics. With the amount of announcements and unrelated postings which are occurring on many of the large lists - discussion is stopped and the lists become simply a forum for announcing events and traineeship opportunities. The changes that have been made are as follows: 1.The number of active lists has been reduced to 100. A description of each of these can be found on the web site in the Communications section at http://www.aiesec.org/_standard/resource 2.Messages announcing conferences, projects and other events should only be sent to INT-EVENTS, and information regarding your event can be entered into the Action Calendar through the web page at http://www.aiesec.org/_standard/action 3.The following messages are not permitted on any list. -Direct match requests. This has been a policy since mid July, however, from now on this will be followed up on and users will be removed from the list who continue to do this. Currently 60% of all forms in Insight are set on Hold status which limits the match rate of the system. If your TN/SN is in Insight and there is a form which meets the requirement you have set, it will be matched. An update on the status of Insight was posted on INT-IS, INT-MCS and the web site last week that details how INSIGHT is being used currently. You can find it at http://www.aiesec.org/_standard/resource in the Information Systems section. -Requests for address information or to contact specific committees or individuals. Please use the address book provided through INSIGHT for this reason. -Requests to be "unsubscribed" from a list. Any questions on using the lists can be sent to help@aiesec.org Instructions can also be found on the web site at http://www.aiesec.org/_standard/resource in Communications. There has also been some discussion over the fact that many lists only allow users who are subscribed to them to post to messages. This is the case with most lists, not all. The purpose of the discussion lists is to facilitate discussion amongst members, not simply as a notice board for unrelated postings. As such, for all major global discussion lists you are required to be subscribed to the list to send a message or ask a question to the other members subscribed to the list. In this way we are able to share information and experience around the members more effectively. Users who do not follow these few guidelines will have their access to the discussion lists removed. In the following email I have detailed all the global discussion lists which are active and to which you can subscribe to participate in the discussions. I hope with some effort we can move towards more effective communication and information sharing over the lists in the next weeks. I look forward to hearing any feedback or questions regarding these changes can be directed to me at davidw@ai.aiesec.org Warm regards, David ____________________________ D a v i d W h e r r y Vice President Communications AIESEC International Teilingerstaat 110-128 NL-3032 AW Rotterdam The Netherlands Tel: +31 10 243 0603 Fax: +31 10 265 1386 Email: davidw@ai.aiesec.org ____________________________ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 140.112.227.238
