Interview with Tomomi Itano

Tomomi Itano was kind enough to grant us an interview. She talks about her
debuts with AKB48, their recent live at Tokyo Dome and the launch of her own
social network !

Q: You are only 21 and yet, you are one of the most beloved idol of the most
popular band in Japan. How do you feel about that?

A: I am happy to be well known as a member of AKB48, however I am not good
enough as a solo artist, so that I must do my best to improve myself. I often
exercise like voice training and swimming and so on.

看來tomochin對於自己頗有自覺，也有在做唱歌的訓練。還有游泳w

Q: What are your favorite artists, those who influence you the most?

A: Female group, SPEED.

Q: Some people are calling you “AKB48’s fashion leader”, what do you think
about it?

A: I am not a so called fashion girl, just choose clothes according to daily
feelings.
But, of course I am glad to hear lots of my fan describe about me as pretty
or respect my style.

Q: Speaking about fashion, what are your favorite brands?

A: I love brand, ashion, what are your favorite brands?

Q: You are a 1st generation member, why did you decide to become an AKB48?

A: I was a big fan of SPEED because they were not only good singers but dancers
and wanted to be artist like them. When I was junior high school time, my
mother recommended me to apply AKB audition.

Q: So you were only 14 when you became a AKB48 member and you went through some
really hard times, did you ever consider quitting the band?

A: My friends were enjoying normal school life freely when I got lessens for
AKB. I thought I was sacrificing my time. Also the early era of AKB, not so
many audiences come to our AKB theatre, it made us so nervous about our
future. Everyday I forced myself not to give up until another more three hard
stuff occurred.
The reason why I could continue until now is I had good friends in AKB, most
of the are same generation to me, all of us never given up our future’s
dream to be star whatever actress or artist.

Q: What’s your favorite AKB48’s song and why?

A: That is "Beginner", because the song is danceable and make me so high.

Beginner或Dear J這類舞蹈型的歌曲真的很適合tomochin。

Q: AKB48 was recently on stage at Tokyo Dome, congratulations! How was it?

A: Our dream has come true. So, I did my best through 3 days. I am proud of my
performance as the best of my career.

Q: Now that you’ve made it to the Tokyo Dome, what’s your next big goal?

A: I wanna be at the same stage of Tokyo Dome as solo artist, in near future.

相信tomochin不久後的將來一定可以單獨稱霸東京巨蛋的！

Q: You’ve just launched your social network, Team Tomo. Is it something you are
proud of? How was your fans’ reaction to it?

A: I love photo and text from my fans, and I also do comment on the contents
from them. Especially, I found my new fun on having some photos modified by
my fans, they make me happy.
We just started this trial, so I wish everyone support me and my staff to
improve the service. Please stay tuned.

Q: There’s a lot of people loving you over here, in Europe, would you like to
perform as a solo artist in Europe someday?

A: I’d love to do, though I have few opportunities to visit Europe at the time
being. Especially I wish to go to Paris, its city view should be beautiful.
If I could take some snaps for making my photo book, it must be so nice.

台灣比較近，可以先來台灣嗎QQ

Q: What do you like to do during your days off?

A: Sometimes I spend my time at home, Sometimes I go to Tokyo Disney land.

Q: I was told you just love eating! What’s your favorite meal?

A: I love SOBA. I am good for cooking, my mother was a good coach.

啊啊，真想吃tomochin的料理～

Q: Do you have a message for your French and Belgian fans?

A: I am quite surprised and happy to know that I have supporters in Europe. I
hope to show my performance in your countries in the future, but it will take
more time.

your own fun just as I did in this virtual world.
