新浪體育訊 北京時間7月29日，阿庫拉網球精英賽組委會宣佈小威廉姆
斯和莎拉波娃將推出今年在聖地牙哥進行的這項賽事。
現在世界排名第七的小威廉姆斯表示，她之所以選擇推出比賽是因為她
的腳踝傷勢還沒有復原，本周在斯坦福進行的WTA錦標賽小威就是因為腳踝有
傷宣佈退出的。自從在今年溫網第三輪失利之後，小威廉姆斯就再也沒有參
加任何比賽。
而世界排名第二的俄羅斯美少女莎拉波娃則是因為後背的傷勢宣佈推出
本次比賽。莎拉波娃是在溫網半決賽中輸給達文波特後就沒有參加任何賽事

Serena Williams, Sharapova out of next week's Acura event

STANFORD, California, July 28 (Reuters) - Seven-times grand slam winner
Serena Williams and former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova have pulled out
of next week's Acura Classic in San Diego, tournament organisers said on
Thursday.
World number seven Williams withdrew because of the same ankle injury which
caused her to miss this week's WTA tournament in Stanford.
She has not played since she lost to unheralded fellow American Jill Craybas
in the third round of Wimbledon last month.
World number two Sharapova, who won Wimbledon in 2004, was forced out of the
Acura Classic with a lower back injury.
Davenport will be the top seed next week.
