The status of Taiwan in the United Nations We would like to discuss whether the Republic of China is entitled to a membership of the United Nations. 13 members of United Nations requested Secretary-General the inclusion in the agenda of 57th session of a supplementary item entitled "Question of representation of the Republic of China in the United Nations" on the 1st August 2002 (refer to A/57/191). KEY NOTES The General Assembly adopted resolution 2758 on 25 October 1971, and the Republic China lost the representation of China (refer to A/res/2758). Especially, we focus on whether two representations from one Nation can be approved, and the resolution 2758 confers on the People's Republic of China the right to represent the Republic of China on Taiwan in the United Nations. We will refer to similar cases where the two or more representatives represent one nation; North Korea and South Korea, the Soviet Unions, and others. We believe that your presentation is to obviously affirm the membership of Taiwan in the United Nations. So in order to make a stark contrast in discussion, our presentation will deny the membership of Taiwan in the United Nations.
