Inter defender Christian Chivu has paid his compliments to Roma for their
Coppa Italia victory, but says that there was a foul in the build-up to
Simone Perrotta’s second goal.
Roma triumphed 2-1 in an exhilarating game at the Stadio Olimpico, as they
prevented Inter from completing the double.
"It was a wonderful final that could have ended in a draw," said Chivu, whose
side almost managed to battle back from two goals down.
"Roma suffered a lot from our pressing and they probably wouldn't have had
the strength to react if Burdisso's effort had gone in instead of hitting the
post.
"For their second goal [by Perrotta] there was a foul on Cesar that the
referee didn't see, but there's no use starting useless disputes and its
right to pay our compliments to Roma.”
Chivu also concurred with team-mate Dejan Stankovic, who said that the
Scudetto, which Inter clinched last Sunday, was the club’s main goal for the
season.
"We won the Scudetto and that was our main objective,” the Romanian captain
stated.
“Roma won the Coppa Italia and the Super Cup, so they showed they are
stronger in one-legged matches. But let's not forget that at the Olimpico in
the first half of the season we won by scoring four goals and this is very
significant."
