EGYPTIAN striker Mido has claimed he wants to move to Roma
when his loan period at Celta Vigo expires.
His declarations mark something of a U-turn, as the African
youngster had previously claimed he would be happy to make
a permanent switch to the Galician side when the Spanish
season ends.
Mido reiterated his stance that he would not be returning to
current owners Ajax - whether coach Ronald Koeman departed or
not - but insisted the chance to move to Serie A was now his
top priority.
"Leaving aside if Ronald Koeman stays or not, I don't want to
come back to Holland and my agent knows this very well," said
the 20-year-old.
"My first choice is Roma. I know they had contacts with Ajax
and I hope everything will go in a positive way.
"Also with a coach like Fabio Capello I could improve a lot."
However, there are still stumbling blocks preventing the player
from completing any move to Roma, most notably the fact that
the Italian outfit are keen to take him on a loan deal, whereas
Ajax are looking for a sum of around €15 million (￡10 million)
for a permanent transfer.
Mido is confident though that a compromise deal can be found
to allow him to complete a move away from the Amsterdam ArenA.
"I know there are few problems, but I hope they could find a
solution.
"Anyway I'm sure the price will fall, because in this moment
the European clubs have big economic problems, and so it is
impossible to ask such big sums."
