Totti and Cassano set for reunion?
Cesare Prandelli has once again hinted that he would like to line up
Francesco Totti and Antonio Cassano when Italy play Romania on November 17.
Speaking to Rai ahead of this evening's Euro 2012 qualifier against Northern
Ireland in Belfast, Prandelli made no secret of his plans.
“It would be beautiful because it would be born out of their friendship and
it would give a wonderful message to the youngsters,” he said.
Totti and Cassano played together for five seasons at Roma, establishing a
strong bond before the latter left for Real Madrid.
It also remains to be seen whether Prandelli can convince Totti to come out
of international retirement.
And given his lacklustre form so far this season, there is even doubts as to
whether he deserves a place in the squad.
“It's not true that Roma mollycoddle Totti,” Prandelli said. “In recent
years he has taken a lot of responsibility like a real leader.”
