MARACH-PEYA CAPTURE HAMBURG TITLE; BOGOMOLOV JR-EBDEN WIN IN ATLANTA

Third seeds Oliver Marach and Alexander Peya captured their first ATP World
Tour team title on Sunday at the bet-at-home Open – German Tennis
Championships 2011. The Austrians defeated fourth seeds Frantisek Cermak and
Filip Polasek 6-4, 6-1 in the final of the ATP World Tour 500 clay-court
tennis tournament in Hamburg.

In a repeat of this year’s Serbia Open 2011 final, Marach and Peya avenged
the defeat they suffered in Belgrade by breaking serve six times from 10
opportunities and winning 70 per cent of points behind first serve to claim
victory in 66 minutes.

Doubles World No. 13 Marach clinched his 10th ATP World Tour title in 18
finals; nine of those victories have come on clay. It was his second title of
the season, having triumphed at the Copa Claro in Buenos Aires with Leonardo
Mayer in February.

"It’s very nice [to win my 10th title] at a big tournament like Hamburg,"
said Marach. "I was even happier for Alex as it was his first title. I’m
also happy that we took revenge for the Belgrade final, when we lost against
the same guys.

"Today we played really well. For sure the other guys did not play their best
tennis, but we didn’t give them time to play. We played very aggressive,
took the important points, and in the end we were the winners."

The No. 35-ranked Peya captured his first career ATP World Tour title at the
sixth attempt. The 31 year old was contesting his third final of the year,
having been beaten in Belgrade and at the Delray Beach International Tennis
Championships (w/ Kas) in February.

"It’s a very good feeling [to win my first ATP World Tour title]," said
Peya. "I had five chances before, I missed them; so it’s definitely good to
finally get the title. I hope it’s not going to be the last one. The whole
week we played very solid, very good doubles."

Alex Bogomolov Jr. and Matthew Ebden, joining forces for the first time this
week, clinched their maiden team title, rallying to defeat Matthias Bachinger
and Frank Moser 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 at the Atlanta Tennis Championships.

Bogomolov Jr. and his Australian partner won three fewer points than their
German opponents, but snuck out the victory in a tight match tie-break,
claiming the championship in one hour and 34 minutes. "The [match tie-breaks]
can always go either way. It's usually a matter of a couple points here or
there," said Ebden. "We just tried to concentrate on our service points. We
kept getting back in the lead, so that was key to keep the momentum. We had
9-6 and they came back strongly with their serves, so we were lucky to squeak
it out in the end."

It’s the second title in three weeks for Ebden, who clinched his first
career title with Ryan Harrison at the Campbell’s Hall Of Fame Tennis
Championships title in Newport. Meanwhile, the win gives the 28-year-old
Bogomolov his first title on the ATP World Tour.

Bachinger and Moser, playing together this week for the second time at the
tour level, were both bidding for their first title. Bachinger was appearing
in his first final while Moser was contesting his second, having finished
runner-up at the Farmers Classic in 2009 with Benjamin Becker.
