[國中] 請問康軒 國二上 第二課閱讀的文法

請問各位英文老師
國中康軒版第三冊(國二)第二課閱讀測驗的文法
課文中寫到
Twenty students made their beds and cleaned their bedrooms.
(名詞有變成複數)
Fifteen wiped the doors and windows in the living room.
(名詞有變成複數)

但是為什麼課文中又寫到
Ten cleaned the bathroom. Three swept the yard.

為何不是 Ten cleaned the bathrooms. Three swept the yards.呢?
既然課文前幾句都有強調很多學生擦很多的門和窗
為何課文後幾句又不變成複數名詞?
原文如下
Twenty students made their beds and cleaned their bedrooms. Fifteen wiped the
doors and windows in the living room. Twelve mopped the floor in the dining
room. Ten cleaned the bathroom. Three swept the yard.

既然這是同一篇文章 名詞單複數的觀念會不會太不一致?
到底它的規則是什麼?

推 Madylin:因為bathroom只有一間，yard只有一個...
可是其實這篇是給全班學生的問卷調查
文章前幾句有強調十五個學生擦很多的門和窗(因為住在不同的家中)
可是為什麼文章後幾句又只說十個學生只清掃一間廁所?
三個學生只掃一個庭院?

我知道the + noun可當總稱,可是這篇文章的名詞單複數觀念前後太不一致了

→ dunchee:"很多的門和窗"主要是指"單一一個living room裡頭的"
→ dunchee:這用的是"一般共有的常態現象"--你站在任一個人的家中客廳
→ dunchee:四處環顧一下，會看到入口的門,通往臥房的門,通往廚房的門
→ dunchee:通往浴/廁的門...等等" 即使有例外(只有入口一個門，就像
→ dunchee:是倉庫)這也算是罕見的少數，甚至是實際的作survey的那群
→ dunchee:學生家中沒有這現象，所以這種不屬於常態的例外不需要討論
→ dunchee:進來)//我要說的是，如果你用你的邏輯思考，那麼"in the
→ dunchee:living room(單數)" 也是不一致 有問題.
→ dunchee:英文裡頭，用於常態表達(大家都有/通例)可以只用"一個"(單

→ dunchee:真要挑的話倒是第一句. 比較日常的說法可以用"their bed
→ dunchee:and ... bedroom", 但是這文章作者在"刻意"注重文法的情況
→ dunchee:下又用了複數名詞(想和their一致) 結果就是造成你的困擾
