但是有種例外（其實也不算是）
就是如果用了表示「數量」的Adj 片語
例如
Many natural resources ___ been found on the island recently.
這裡many 是形容詞
而我想答案應該是have 沒錯
A lot of natural resources ___ been found on the island recently.
a lot of 是既定片語
也是many 的代換
所以答案應該也是have
An abundance natural resources ___ been found on the island in recent years.
An abundance of 只是以此類推罷了
也就是說這裡不能想成
An abundance [of resources]
因為 An abundance of 是既定的Adj片語
表達「數量」
所以主詞只有"natural resources"而已
因此應該是用have
再者
Google 後的結果
用have 的有193000
用has 的只有794
: EX
: a number of plural n. plural v
: the number of plural n. singular v
a number of 表達的就是「數量」
也是adj 片語修飾後方主詞(複數)
但是the number 表示的是「數字」
並不是例外
所以依循大大講的
主詞是 the number 所以後方單然用單數
: 但也會看到
: a great number of plural n. singular v
a (great) number of 表示[數量]
所以能給例子嗎？
因為應該接複數
google 後的結果也是複數用的多
: the higher number of pural n. plural v.
一樣的例子?
應該接單數
: EX
: an average of plural n. plural v.
這ok
因為an average of 也是表示[數量]
ex.An average of two students are absent each day.
(有平均2人的量)
而
The average of 33 consecutive whole numbers is 58.
(所有數的平均數)
就是用單數了
: A total of plural n. pural V.
大同小異，表示[數量]
ex.A total of 300 passengers were killed in the plane crash.

: the veriety of plural n. singular V
: a veriety of plural n. plural v.

另外補充一個也很好玩的
Some of the water is evaporated.
Some of the students are not happy.
這兩個句子的主詞都是some
只是當some 當 N時
需要靠後方的介詞片語來幫忙帶出單複數
Some rice is on the table.
Some students are not excited.
這裡some就是adj了
所以主詞就看後方
