The 2004 Taipei Int'l Cycle Show Wheels Towards Innovation & High Added-Value
March 10, 2004
Jointly-organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) &
Taiwan Bicycle Export Trade Association (TBEA), the 17th Taipei Int'l Cycle
Show is not only slated from March 10th through the 13th for the 1st & 3rd
exhibition halls of the TAITRA, but is also the opener of a series of cycle
trade shows to be held globally.
With a catchy slogan "Think Bicycle, Think Taiwan," the 2004 Taipei Int'l
Cycle Show again sets a record for the number of booths, with both the 1st &
3rd halls to be set up with some 1828 booths used by 582 suppliers from Taiwan
& abroad. The show is Asia's largest event, the key trade show for int'l
buyers of bicycles and parts.
This year's cycle show covers it all with a full array of merchandise for
two-wheeled transport, a full line-up of new developments with a variety of
goods that feature new materials, functionality and applications. See
added-value concepts and quality, which are redefining cycles by cutting
weight and adding features. The organizers have designated the 1st exhibition
hall as the showcase for parts and accessories, with the renowned Japanese
supplier Shimano and Cat Eye, the European bicycle association COLIPED, the
American supplier Michelin, the Taiwanese suppliers KMC and Velo, etc. to be
showing their best. Get set to see Shimano's newest 2004 line, the Dura-Ace
wheel sets, the 8-speed gear sets by Smover, the Saint, KMC's super-thin
10-speed chain, the newest M204 and M308P tires by Cheng Shin, etc. Only a
100 meters away in the 3rd exhibition hall are complete cycles and media area.
One of the big-three European cycle suppliers Accell will be on-hand, as well
as Specialized from the USA, and Giant and Merida from Taiwan. The newest
models will be shown, such as Giant's Generation-e, the globally-popular
Revive, the all-purpose mountain bike from Merida, and the 14" super-slim
foldable bike from Oyama Industrial Co. Ltd.

labor costs in Taiwan, most local manufacturers have moved their low to
medium priced cycle production to China and Vietnam, with Taiwan
becoming a global mecca for innovative and value-added products. The
A-Team was founded on January 1, 2003 with a short-term goal to further
the quality and competitiveness of Taiwan cycles.
c. "The Global Bicycle Industry in Transition: Taiwan, Bold Leadership In
Changing Strategies" is a seminar chaired by industry veteran Mr. Jay
Townley, who will shed light on the latest in the worldwide cycle
industry with 40 years of expertise. Besides giving his unique
perspectives, Mr. Townley will exchange notes with Taiwan suppliers
and observers to find out what’s in store for all in the trade.
B. Light Electric Vehicle Forum: In tune to the ever popular eco-awareness,
electro-driven bicycles and vehicles are trends of the future. That's why
