Agassi to skip Hamburg Masters

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) -- Andre Agassi will skip the May 10-16 Hamburg Masters.

He will instead play his only clay-court tuneup for the French Open one week later in St. Polten, Austria, Hamburg organizers said Thursday.

``We received his withdrawal notification today,'' the German tennis federation said.

This year's French Open starts May 24. Agassi, a former No. 1 in the world now ranked sixth, won the tournament in 1999.

Forfait anche per Kafelnikov e El Aynaoui

La direzione del Telecom Italia Masters Roma 2004 ha ricevuto nel pomeriggio
le comunicazioni riguardanti i ritiri di Andre Agassi, Younes El Aynaoui ed
Evgeny Kafelnikov. Il tennista americano, che proprio oggi compie 34 anni, ha
motivato il forfait precisando che, arrivato a questo punto della sua carriera,

preferisce giocare un solo torneo sulla terra battuta prima del Roland Garros
e, per questo, rinuncer?anche ad Amburgo. Il tennista marocchino, invece, non
potr?essere al Foro Italico per un infortunio al piede. Non ?specificato,
infine, il problema che costringer?Kafelnikov a saltare, dopo Roma, anche
Amburgo e Roland Garros.
