Arsenal defender Kolo Toure will be wearing number 5 this season.
Arsenal.com again have revealed the change at their online store,
with Toure listed with the number 5 shirt on the replica kit page.
Toure's previous playing number of 28 was seen by many Arsenal fans
as not reflecting his role as an important first team player.
Many traditionalists believe that the first team should receive the
playing numbers 1-11 and to an extent this has been reflected by two
player changes so far this summer.
官網非常低調的以新球衣燙號選單的方式透露了 Kolo要穿5號這件事情
Kolo 原本的28號實在不符合他在球隊中的重要地位
許多比較傳統的球迷認為球隊的1到11號都應該要有人穿。
Francesc Fabregas will take the number 4 shirt, made famous by his hero
Pep Guardiola in the centre of midfield. Now Kolo Toure takes the playing
number last worn by Arsenal stalwart Martin Keown.
Cesc穿上4號的原因是因為他的兒時英雄Pep Guardiola，當然也有傳承 Vieira的意味在
前一個著名的4號球員是Michael Thomas (1984-1991)，這些人的位置都是中場中路。
在Martin Keown (1993-2004)擁有5號前，Steve Bould (1988-1999)穿了很久的時間
1999年Bould轉隊後，Keown就把原本穿的14號留給那個想穿12號卻無法如願的菜鳥
高興地穿上象徵主力中後衛的5號球衣。
Philippe Senderos will wear the prestigious number 6 shirt next season,
as Arsenal continue to shake up the squad numbers.
Yesterday we revealed that Kolo Toure will take the number 5 shirt - and
today it has been revealed his defensive partner Senderos will take on
Tony Adams' legendary number.
The number had been put into 'semi-retirement' for several seasons as a
mark of respect to the great contribution that Adams made to Arsenal.
Now Senderos has to live up to the pressure that wearing the shirt will
bring.
As a result of the number changes, talk has been rife of new signings
possibly receiving the previous numbers of existing players. For example,
a new defensive signing may take Senderos' old number 20 shirt.
6號球衣的前任擁有者是Tony Adams (1983-2002)
1983年他首次在一隊出場那時還沒有固定號碼這回事，先發球員就穿1到11號
1986/87球季他成為球隊主力，下個球季被主教練 Graham指定為隊長
以21歲的年齡，Adams成為俱樂部史上最年輕的隊長
並且率領球隊在1980's 90's 2000's三個年代都拿下聯賽冠軍
從球員開始擁有固定號碼到2002年退休為止，這個號碼都是屬於他的。
四個球季之後，幾乎被球迷認為是「半退休」的6號，給了一個另一個21歲的年輕人
對於才剛入隊就被拿來跟 Adams做比較的 Senderos來說，這是榮耀也是責任
現在他必須要把「Mr. Arsenal」賦予這個號碼的特殊意義扛在肩膀上。
10、15、20、23、26、28號都空出來了，據信可能會有新的後衛穿上20號。
