Panathinaikos 2-2 Arsenal

Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann was at fault as below-par Arsenal twice
surrendered the lead to draw at Panathinaikos.
Freddie Ljungberg converted Jose Antonio Reyes' pass but Lehmann
was caught out of goal allowing Ezequiel Gonzalez to superbly
lob an equaliser.

Thierry Henry restored Arsenal's lead but Lehmann was stranded
from a corner as substitute Emmanuel Olisadebe headed the Greek
team level again.

Greek keeper Kostas Chalkias made two brilliant late saves to
ensure a draw.

Arsenal went into the game with Cesc Fabregas making his first
start in the Champions League in the absence of Patrick Vieira.

And the Arsenal skipper's presence in midfield was sorely missed
as the Gunners surrendered possession far more than normal.

  When are we going to DITCH this goalkeeper? Lehmann is absolutely
 100% a liability to Arsenal progress

Panathinaikos, playing in front of their passionate supporters,
created the early opportunities.

The impressive Angelos Basinas shot narrowly wide with his first
attempt and then forced Lehmann into a good save with a thunderous
 strike from long range.

But when Arsenal finally started to impose themselves they soon
carved open the Greek defence with Reyes' sublime threaded pass -
and Ljungberg made no mistake from seven yards.

Panathinaikos continued to press forward and Gonzalez made a superb
 late run into the Gunners box but could not direct his header on
target while Basinas threatened again from long range just after the
 half hour.

Sotiris Kirgiakos headed wide and Basinas shot narrowly over Lehmann's
 bar with a vicious free-kick as the home team searched for an equaliser.

Panathinaikos continued to show greater urgency and desire after half
-time - and they were finally rewarded for their endeavour with a well
-deserved equaliser.

Campbell seemed to have a long ball upfield covered but Lehmann chose
 to surge from his goal and head clear.

Gonzalez punished the German keeper with a brilliant opportunist strike,
 looping the ball over Lehmann from all of 35 yards wide on the right.

Arsenal took the lead again after a rare error from Basinas led to a
lightning-fast break.

Reyes, Robert Pires and Cole manoeuvred the ball up field at blistering
 pace and Henry, quiet all evening, slid in to restore Arsenal's lead.

Arsenal seemed to be coasting but another poor piece of defending allowed
 substitute Olisadebe to head Panathinaikos' second equaliser of the evening.

Olisadebe was poorly marked, while Lehmann came from his goal but was
caught in no-man's land.

The visitors seemed certain to take the lead for a third time with minutes
 left but Chalkias made a brilliant double save from Reyes and Pires.

　　在溫格的思想中，進攻是阿森納賴以生存的命根。的確，他們有足以令
任何對手的艷羨的強大火力，平均每場超過3個的進球數是其他任何球隊所
望塵莫及的，而且，憑藉著對比賽的絕對控制，他們的防線也極少遇到太多
的挑戰。然而，實際上，儘管有著坎貝爾這樣的頂級後衛，但這並不代表他
們的防守有多麼堅固，門將這個位置就是他們的一個最不能讓人放心的環節
。這個問題的製造者便是德國二號門將萊曼。

　　在希臘令人煩躁的球場內，槍手們的兩個進球實屬不易，兩次領先也讓
溫格看到了帶回三分的希望。然而，在那個關鍵的位置上，萊曼卻沒能保持
應有的冷靜。正是他的兩次令人匪夷所思的失誤最終讓溫格的夢想化為了泡
影，阿森納不得不接受各取一分的結局。

　　讓我們來回放德國人在雅典的這兩次表演。第66分鐘，希臘人在反擊中
的一腳長傳吊向槍手防線身後，前鋒奧利薩德貝和後衛坎貝爾同時衝刺追逐
皮球，此時萊曼衝出了禁區，搶先一步頭球解圍，皮球落到距離球門30米的
邊線處。帕納辛奈科斯的岡薩雷斯及時跟進衝向皮球，在科爾上前封堵前，
他突然將球端出一記高高的弧線，直接吊向阿森納的球門。皮球先是越過了
猶豫的科爾，又趕在萊曼回防門線之前吊入了網窩。如果說這個進球完全是
萊曼的責任未免對德國人太過不公，岡薩雷斯的吊射腳法實在絕妙，但是想
想當坎貝爾一直在奧利薩德貝身邊而且距離禁區還有一段距離時，萊曼的出
擊是否顯得有些冒失呢？

　　第82分鐘帕納辛奈科斯的進球看上去更為簡單，巴西納斯發出角球，奧
利薩德貝的頭球直接砸進已經沒有了萊曼把守的球門。出擊半路又想返回是
門將的大忌，身為德國隊二號門將的萊曼怎麼會出現這樣的錯誤呢？萊曼在
英超中的表現還屬差強人意，但一到國際賽場就像鬼魂附體一樣，想想上賽
季與同城的切爾西的兩場冠軍杯四分之一決賽，藍軍的三個進球中便有兩個
與德國人的失誤有關。

　　萊曼不但防守技術令人放心不下，他也是英超中有名的大嘴先生，他那
令人琢磨不透的壞脾氣也屢屢為自己惹禍上身。本賽季剛剛開始的時候，再
次穩獲主力位置的德國人口無遮攔地貶斥切爾西，說對手不過是一顆流星。
而在上賽季的最後一輪對陣熱刺的那場比賽中，在最後的幾分鐘裡球隊已經
領先的情況下萊曼還是在球門裡與對方前鋒險些動手，由於他的不冷靜，最
終那場比賽他還是丟了一個球，只落得平局收場。而就在最近，剛剛獲得德
國隊首發位置的他又陰陽怪氣地堅持不用國家隊球衣贊助商阿迪達斯的手套
而生事，克林斯曼很可能為此讓卡恩重新回到德國隊一號門將的位置。

　　看到自己信任的隊員如此拙劣的表現，一向善於掩飾自己情緒的溫格在
賽後的話已經絲毫不給德國人面子了：「很難對這樣一場比賽做出什麼評判
，但是我過後要和顏斯(萊曼)談談。我想說，如果我們的後防繼續不斷地犯
錯的話，我們將受到懲罰，到時候我們都會看到將發生什麼事情。」萊曼顯
然無法和他的前任希曼相比，在溫格的計劃中，阿爾穆尼亞或許絕不會僅僅
