ARSENAL: Wenger reveals his midfield plan
Flamini will be my new Vieira

ARSENE WENGER last night revealed the man who will step into Patrick Vieira's
shoes this season — and he will not cost Arsenal a penny.

Wenger is set to take the biggest gamble of his career by handing the role to
French youngster Mathieu Flamini, despite him being 21 and having started
just NINE Premiership games.

He insists the midfielder has all the attributes to carry the club into a new
era.

But Wenger revealed he DID consider bringing in ex-Leeds and Everton man
Olivier Dacourt, who now plays for Roma.

He said: "Mathieu is a fast learner. He will play a bigger role for us this
season and I have no concerns with that.

"When you lose a player like Patrick, it leaves a gap. My players have lost
not only a team-mate and their captain but also a friend. They'll miss him as
a man as well and, of course, he needs replacing.

Flamini is highly regarded and Cesc Fabregas, 18, is also set for a starring
role this season but the Gunners still look a little lightweight in midfield.

Wenger brought Flamini 13 months ago from Marseille and will be hoping the
Frenchman can save Arsenal from having to shell out any of the ￡13.5million
they received from Italians Juventus for Vieira.

Flamini's feisty temperament comes from having an Italian father and a
Corsican mother but, astonishingly, he only broke into the Marseille team two

He made a huge impression with his bustling performances and was adored by
home fans because he was a local boy.

season in place of Patrick."

Wenger has even tipped his protege to take the international stage by storm.

He said: "I can't see how the France international team's management can
continue to overlook Mathieu. It shouldn't be long before he finds himself
involved in his country's set-up — that's how good he is."

And Flamini, who is in the squad to face Newcastle today, cannot wait to
repay his manager for the faith he has shown in him.

弗拉米尼將是新的維埃拉

昨晚阿瑟.溫格表示，在新的賽季裡弗拉米尼將會成長為新的帕特裡克.維埃拉，而他
的成長將不會給阿森納帶來多大的損失。

將弗拉米尼扶持為球隊的主力，這可能是溫格教練生涯裡最冒險的一次決定，畢竟弗
拉米尼只有21歲，僅僅有9場的聯賽出場經歷。

但溫格表示了對弗拉米尼的信心，他認為弗拉米尼將會把俱樂部帶到一個新的時代。

而溫格也承認，他曾經想把現效力於羅馬的球員奧利弗.達科特帶到海布裡，達科特此
前還效力過利茲聯和埃弗頓。

溫格說道：「弗拉米尼很善於學習，他將會在新賽季裡扮演重要的角色，對此我深信
不疑。」

弗拉米尼被外界給予了很高的評價，而塞斯克.法佈雷加斯同樣也是，18歲的他也將挑
起阿森納的中場大梁。

在13個月前溫格把弗拉米尼從馬賽帶到了阿森納，溫格也希望這位希望之星能夠拯救
失去維埃拉的兵工廠，維埃拉以1350萬英鎊的身價轉會到了尤文圖斯。

弗拉米尼的父親是意大利人 ，而她的母親來自法國的科西嘉島，令人驚奇的是，在弗
拉米尼踢球的時候，直到兩年前他才進入馬賽。

他在有限的表演時間裡向外界展示了他的足球才華，給很多人留下了很深的印象，家鄉

期待弗拉米尼的爆發

溫格同時希望他的愛徒可以在國際賽場上取得進步。

溫格說：「我相信法國國家隊的教練員們一直都在關注著弗拉米尼，他加入法國國家

而今天將代表阿森納迎戰喜鵲的弗拉米尼也表示了他對自己的信心。
