Pires keen to extend Arsenal deal

Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires has revealed he would like to finish
his playing career at Highbury.
The 31-year-old's current contract ends in 2006 and he says he would
sign an extension if manager Arsene Wenger wanted him to stay with
the Gunners.
"Will I stay at Arsenal for the rest of my career? If I can, yes,"
said Pires.
"My contract is until 2006 and Arsene's is until 2008 and if Arsene
wants me to stay longer, I will stay," he told the London Evening
Standard.
Pires has suffered a dip in form for the Premiership champions
recenty and he puts this down to the kidney infection he suffered
at the start of the season.
He added: "I know it has not been the real Robert Pires in certain
matches, but I'm fine now. I have no injury problems and my health
is good.
"What I need now is to play as many games as possible. The more I
play, the sooner I will find my rhythm.
"But one thing I have discovered in my four years in England is that
the season is a long one. I still have plenty of time to play a part."
