The 19-year-old is set to sign an 18-month deal with the Bairns and could make his debut in the Tennent's Scottish Cup third-round tie with Brechin tomorrow. The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international, who made three first-team appearances for Arsenal, admits he was sold on the SPL side by head coach John Hughes. Cregg said: "I just felt I had to move on from Arsenal and I felt this is the right place to come as it's ambitious. I met with John Hughes and he sold the place to me so it's where I wanted to come." The Falkirk boss believes the signing of Cregg underlines his focus on young players at the club. Hughes said: "We were fortunate to get Patrick up here about a month-and-a-half ago to get a good look at him in a bounce match - and I could tell in the first ten minutes what we were getting. "We were also down seeing him at Arsenal and I'm delighted to get him. "The signing tells us what we're trying to do at the club - bringing in quality guys at a young age who have the hunger and desire to take us where we want to go." Meanwhile, Inverness player-manager Craig Brewster will continue his quest to sign Caley legend Dennis Wyness on a permanent basis next week. The 28-year-old became the Highland club's record goalscorer during his current loan spell from Hearts after moving to Tynecastle from Caley Thistle in June 2003. Brewster will also be aiming to tie midfielder Barry Wilson to the club on a new deal next week.
