阿森納彭南特可能因酒後駕車入獄,租借至伯明翰一事受阻

英超俱樂部(球會)伯明翰周二宣布，從阿森納租借彭南特的交易已被「擱置」。
這位前英格蘭21以下國家隊中場周一被指控酒後駕車，由於他去年2月就因酒後
駕車被吊銷駕照16個月，所以現在可能面臨牢獄之災。 雖然兩家俱樂部周一都
表示彭南特將加盟伯明翰，但伯明翰網站上的一份聲明稱，這筆交易還沒有完成。
「目前交易暫時中止，我們稍後將重新審視。伯明翰雖然想引進彭南特，而且阿
森納和這位球員也同樣希望，但考慮到彭南特現在的情況，目前還無法與他簽下
租借協議，」聲明說。
伯明翰還表示，他們希望這個問題能在下周一轉會窗口關閉前得到解決。

Pennant loan deal placed on hold
Birmingham have denied that they have completed a deal to sign Arsenal
midfield man Jermaine Pennant on loan until the end of the season.
Both clubs reported Pennant had moved to St Andrews shortly after Pennant
had been charged with drink-driving.
But a Birmingham statement said: "Pennant's present circumstances are such
that a loan agreement cannot be signed at the present time."
Boss Steve Bruce, however, still hopes to complete a deal for the 22-year-old.
Pennant, whose Arsenal deal expires at the end of the season, came to Highbury
from Notts County for ￡2m.
He has made 12 appearances for Arsenal this season, although most have been
off the bench. Pennant, who was England's most expensive teenage footballer,
has also previously been on loan at Watford and has 24 England Under-21 caps.
