PARIS (Reuters) - Arsenal's striker Sylvain Wiltord, out of action
since mid-December with ankle problems, is aiming to return for their
FA Cup semi-final with Manchester United on Saturday and then France
for the Euro 2004 finals.
"I will be there (Euro 2004 in June)," he told French pay television Canal
Plus on Monday."My injury belongs to the past. My goal is to finish
the season in style with Arsenal and to follow up with Euro 2004 if possible,"
he added.
Although he said he hoped to play at Villa Park on Saturday he said
Wednesday's French midweek international friendly against the Netherlands
in Rotterdam was "just a little too early".
Wiltord, who has not played for France since November, said he had taken
his time to think about his club future and wished to stay at Arsenal who
are seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and are Champions
League quarter-finalists.
The Frenchman's contract with the treble-chasing Gunners ends at the end
of the season."It's an important career choice and I'm taking my time to
think it over carefully. My priority would be to stay at Arsenal or
to find another club abroad," he said.
But if forced to return to France, Wiltord, who comes from the Paris suburbs
, said he would love to play for Paris St Germain,a club dear to his heart
