Gio celebrated in style when he struck our superb second goal against
Chelsea on New Year's Day. Eleven months earlier the central midfielder
had suffered a cruciate knee injury in the home game against Fulham.

It ended his season and he did not return until our Worthington Cup tie
against Sunderland on November 6. Since then the Dutchman has worked his
way back to top form and will be pushing for a starting place for the
remainder of the season. He has also played as a left back this season.
