Lorient defender Laurent Koscielny has admitted that he’d only join a club
in the Champions League, as Arsenal prepare a third offer for the French
starlet.

Gunners’ CEO Ivan Gazidis opened negotiations with the centre-back’s club
towards the end of May, but had the initial bids snubbed. The latest
rejection came last week, when reports of a €10 million bid were met with a
thumbs down from the Ligue 1 outfit, yet the north London giants continue to
pursue the centre-back.

Tulle-born Koscielny, 24, has been hugely impressive for the Ligue 1 side,
leading them to a seventh placed finish, after moving from Tours for ￡1.2
million last summer.
自 Tulle 出生的 Koscielny，現年24歲，自從去年夏天從 Tours 以￡1.2m 轉會至
Lorient，便在法甲打出名氣並率隊拿下第七名成績。


“If a club comes in and says “we want you” and they play in the Champions
League, I would go to the directors to see if they can agree to let me go.
『如果有俱樂部來找我，並說“我們需要你”，而且也在歐冠聯盟踢球，那我會找董事會
談談可否讓我離去。』

“As I said to my directors, there’s 4 big clubs in France and other foreign
sides [who have enquired about him].

￡I like England and Germany. I’ll be 25 in September, but I wont go abroad
to a mid-table club, there’s no point. I’d rather stay in France. The
sporting challenge is the most important thing. As I said, I want to play in
European Cup.”

The interview, which was conducted a fortnight before Arsenal’s first bid,
is proof that Koscielny would be willing join Arsene Wenger’s side who have
already signed frontman Marouane Chamakh from Bordeaux this summer.
這次的訪談，是在 Arsenal 正式提出合同之前兩週，也是根據此而認為 Koscielny 可能
加入 教授 在今夏才自 Bordeaux 簽入 前鋒 Marouane Chamakh 的陣容。

‘Les Merlus’ president Loic Fery has slapped a €15 million (￡12m) price
tag on the 6 ft 1 in defender, meaning that Arsenal will have to up their
offer for a third time.
