The sixteen-year-old is the standout among a tribe of local talents expected
to breakthrough into the Gunners’ first-team in coming years, alongside
Henri Lansbury, Kieran Gibbs and Mark Randall.

But it is Wilshere in particular that has Arsenal fans excited, the England
under-17 international having already been compared to the likes of Liam
Brady, Aleksandr Hleb and Cesc Fabregas.

And Wenger has singled him out as a genuine possibility to crack the senior
squad next season, following an excellent performance against the West Ham
Reserves recently.

“The next generation is Lansbury, Gibbs, Randall, Jack Wilshere,” said the
Frenchman. “I don’t think he (Wilshere) will stay a long time in the
Reserves.”
