預備隊聯賽最終排第三，但是Lupoli以19個進球壓過熱刺與維拉的年輕射手成為進球王

Lupoli finishes top of scoring charts

Arsenal Reserves have finished their league season in third place.
Charlton had the title wrapped up long before the final game but Neil Banfield
’s side were pipped to the runners-up spot by Southampton, who beat Coventry
in their final game to leapfrog Arsenal.
It was still a creditable final position for an extremely youthful Gunners
second string which ultimately claimed 17 wins, 56 points and 65 goals from
their 28 matches.
Arturo Lupoli has been prolific during his first season at Highbury and
finished as top scorer in the Reserve League, eclipsing all rivals in the
north and south divisions.
With 19 goals to his name, the Italian teenager beat Tottenham striker Lee
Barnard and managed one more than Aston Villa’s Luke Moore.
Lupoli emulated his first-team hero Thierry Henry, who finished as the
Premiership's top scorer with 25 goals. Lupoli was Arsenal's second highest
scorer in all competitions with 29 goals, just one behind Henry.
Banfield’s Reserves got the season off to a flying start, going unbeaten in
their first 10 games with seven wins and just six goals conceded during that
spell.
The first game of the season saw Arsenal thrash West Ham 5-0. Quincy opened
the scoring and Frankie Simek, Danny Karbassiyoon, John Spicer and Lupoli
grabbed a goal apiece.
The Gunners' first defeat came on November 22 at Carrow Road. Sebastian
Larsson put Arsenal in front but Norwich hit back to win the game 2-1.
Another defeat followed against eventual champions Charlton before one of the
most exciting games of the campaign, a 2-1 victory over Spurs at Barnet FC.
Arsenal’s second string then went a further six games undefeated before
suffering their worst result of the campaign, a 5-1 defeat to an experienced
Fulham side.
Although Arsenal will always strive for success at any level, Banfield summed
up the mission of his side midway through the season, explaining that the
main goal was to develop young players for the first team.
That certainly has been a successful part of the season for Arsenal. Line-ups
for early fixtures included the names of Robin van Persie, Mathieu Flamini
and Philippe Senderos, all of whom have gone on to make their mark in the
senior side.
Lupoli and Quincy have also broken into the first team this year, firstly as
part of the Carling Cup side which saw off two top-flight teams and later in
the FA Cup fifth-round replay at Sheffield United.
雖然預備隊的Banfield帶的不錯，本季為一軍帶出了Flamini, RvP與Senderos，但說實在
，RvP跟Flamini兩個其實實力本來就不錯，只是需要稍微琢磨一下而已。至於Senderos
的崛起，Banfield在預備隊的工作功不可沒。
Lupoli與Quincy本季在兩項盃賽都打過一隊的比賽，看看下季會不會也闖進一軍。我個人
也希望R.Smith下季也能有出頭天。
